WHO WE ARE

PXL_20241214_214300032.PORTRAIT~2.jpg

Hello and Welcome!

My name is Maegan. I have been making soap and bath & body products for 8 years. I started when I began reading labels and quickly realized that I had to research every ingredient to know what each one was and how it might affect my skin and body. With that I decided to make my own skin loving products.

I then realized that I wanted to share my love for bath and body products and commit to always providing transparent, honest labels. With the help of a few family members and friends I managed to start selling in 2018! I strive to do my best to make each ingredient make sense to anyone using my products. So welcome to The Seife Shoppe and please look around. We are adding new products all the time!

The Seife Shoppe

I often have customers ask about my business name. It was a decision that I spent a lot of time on. No, Seife is not my last name. Seife is actually "soap" in German! Having German speaking Swiss ancestors I wanted to incorporate a little of who I am, and where I came from into the name. Some of my grandparents spoke German, but I never learned any of it from them. So my choice of Seife Shoppe was to add a little of my Swiss/German heritage into the name of the business.

Where to find us....

We do not currently have a physical store. However, we can be found at boutiques, markets, and crafts shows in Northeast Indiana. Feel free to sign up for our newsletter to find out more about where we will be.

If you don't see something you are looking for on this website, we may be able to do a custom order (depending on the time of year). Not everything we have available is listed at all times online due to inventory demand at our markets or crafts shows.

Our Skin-Loving Products

Recipe #25!! That's right, it took me 25 different soap recipes to reach the perfect one! All of our soap bars are made from that one perfect recipe. Using the old-fashioned cold process method makes it possible for us to get the swirls, designs, and pretty colors and scents that you all love.

OUR PROCESS

Soap Making Cold Process Colors.jpg
Cold Process Method
In soaping, there are a few different ways that you can make soap. I chose the cold-process method because it allows me to play around with colors and designs a little more. Soap making is so creative, and the best part for me is making the soaps look like the scent that is added to them. For instance, I love creating the honeysuckle bar with the colors that honeysuckle flowers typically are. (yellow, pink, orange)
See more about the cold process method on our blog.

The process of making soap includes mixing lye, water, and oil or fats. The main base recipe that I use was chosen to ensure that it would be a luxurious experience to use, but also that it would have ingredients that love skin and don't irritate it.
We package our soaps and other products with care and creativity. We strive to bring you the most enjoyable experience all around after purchasing our products!

FUN FACTS

Did you know that the word Seife means "Soap" in German?

Soap is made up of oils/fats, water and sodium hydroxide. Without these ingredients you can't make soap!

Lye is not as scary as some might think. Once it is mixed with oils/fats it is no longer caustic or dangerous as it becomes something else entirely. Want to know more?
